I emailed the scheduling department at the BBC to answer my question if this story will be repeated in the autumn. I recieved this reply from Tony Mullen (BBC Scheduler) :
The plan is to repeat The Boy from Space during the week commencing 6/9/2004, Monday to Friday (2 episodes per day) at 1010 and 1210 each day. Please note however that schedules can change and it is worth you checking nearer the time at ...
Hope this helps and I can't wait, although I was a tad disappointed that they will not be shown 'one after the other'.
Just to let you know I plan to show 'Dark Towers' to my class tomorrow (episodes 1+2) . Can't wait. Thanks for all the advice on my other thread guys.
Superb! And there was me holding out on asking them for another few weeks because I didn't think it'd be available yet! I'll see if I can get the full schedule tomorrow, but in the mean time if anybody else has managed to get any bits & pieces please pass 'em along!
It's interesting that they've gone back to a standard stripped schedule - by the looks of it the same 2hrs/2hrs schedule that they had last year - after trying out that one-after-the-other business in the summer. That means that my excellent idea of having one day a week with one full series shown with sign language won't be adopted. Yet anyway. But those timeslots will probably mean L&R can avoid sign language all together.
Anyway, 6/9/04 will be the first week of autumn schools programmes, and TBFS is the earliest L&R they're showing (they count it as being from 1971) so there's a good possibility they'll be going through the whole series in chronological order again. Guessing there'll be 14 weeks in the autumn term this year, minus 2 for half term and minus another one for the regular Deaf Awareness Week, that means they should be able to work all the way through up to Earth Warp, repeating all the classic stories along the way. But that's just a guess.
Great news that L&R will definitely be back in full force for the autumn though!
Alright, it seems the full autumn schedule isn't quite finished yet, but should be available by the end of this week, so we can have a good look at it then and see how accurate my predictions were!
Teacher, you've been given literally the very first public preview of the schedule, ya lucky fella!
