Those little pictures on the Stories Index

Me again, and I'm afraid this sounds awfully picky, but here goes: I think the pictures on the stories index for Joe and the Sheep Rustlers, Cloud Burst and The King's Dragon could do with updating. JatSR only contains an image from the story book and one of Joe from the BBC RealVideo file, Cloud Burst simply contains images from the BBC RealVideo file, and The King's Dragon just has a picture of the armband combined with one of Hastings. Back when these were made (2001) Ben probably didn't have these stories on tape, but the one for Fair Ground! was later updated (it used to be a shot of two kids reading from an old BBC Slide) so I think these should, too, now they've been shown on the CBBC Channel and two out of the three now have a story guide too. There, feel free now to growl at me and remind me that Ben has a life (which I'm sure he does) but it's just something to take on board.

I disagree with everything you say.

I have a better idea, anyway:- You create your own L&R site and then come back to us.

I just LOVE how people leap to my defence against any criticism of the website! What a brilliant idea it was to have this forum thing!

Billy is absolutely 100% spot on is his description of the evolution (or almost total lack of evolution) of the Stories index, and the source of all the pictures. At the time I was so thrilled to have found any pictoral evidence at all of those old stories, that I just bunged together whatever I could find. Just one correction though - the colour background image in the Joe picture is from a location shot contact sheet that I scanned out of a book about schools TV - there's no colour pictures in the story book. So nyer!

I'll tell you why I've never updated those pics, even when I managed to get all those hundreds of screenshots from Cloud Burst and The King's Dragon for the story guides - it's because that whole style of image & the way they've been edited together then the quality badly reduced for display, looks grotty and rubbish.

I vaguely planned to overhaul that page, perhaps using seriously optimized, colour-reduced GIFs to speed up the loading time & make things look nicer. Re-doing some of the individual images in the same silly style as the old ones would sort of make it seem like I was resigned to sticking with that design. Also, I've been knocking up these new story images for the front page schedules as the repeats came along, which used up all my 'collage' inspiration.

But I certainly agree that they need some proper updating, so I shall see what I can do for the next update. If all goes to plan, by the way, which it almost certainly won't, the next update should also include some much-needed nudity for the site...

Yeah? Can we see a pic of Miss Hawk showing off her 'assets'?

Or maybe we could have an "alternative" erotic fiction section where visitors can detail how certain L&R scenes 'could' have gone e.g. the scene where Hawk threatens to 'discipline' that lad in the bedroom!!

Sadly, because TBFS lacks women entirely and DT lacks any attractive ladies (minus Hawk), this possibly isn't the best idea although I wonder whose Peep Peep's mum is, surely even boy's from space have mother's.
