Just a question that maybe one of you guys can answer. Ok, Ok, it has nothing do with Look&Read (well, not really), but I'll ask anyway cos I know you all love me.
Yah know when you visit some websites and you get a popup asking you "do you want to install some software"?? The IMDB does it each time you visit their homepage; it wants you to install Macromedia. Now, a standard popup killer doesn't stop 'em so does anything on a web broswer settings automatically reject the offer to install software without you having to manually decline it each time?! Answers pleaze!! I DON'T WANT MACROMEDIA, IT JUST GIVES ME LOADS MORE ADVERTISING JUNK!! Cheers, Glyn
Assuming you're using Internet Explorer under Windows, try going on Tools > Internet Options > Security, select Internet and click on Custom Level...
Scroll down to the section about ActiveX (it probably has a little coloured cube icon) and change the "Download signed ActiveX controls" option to Disable. Then hit OK, close all the boxes and restart IE - Flash should be completely disabled, though you might still get a box popping up to tell you it's disabled everytime it tries to install itself.
I believe there's a browser hack out there somewhere that fakes an install of Flash, so IE thinks it's installed, but it really isn't and you never hear about it again - I remember reading about this, but I've no idea where it is, sorry.
