Oh don't worry, copies are still available - they were shown entirely without sign language last term. Don't say you missed it?!

I think the most frustrating thing is that the sign language they do is actually very, very good indeed, and it really does fit the format of the Look & Read stories - the carefully controlled vocabulary, the teaching middles explaining the story, the reading breaks, etc, all are very well complemented by the BSL interpreter, to my unqualified eye anyway.

That's why it's such a shame that they completely waste it by signing random episodes from the middle of various series, and hardly bothering to advertise it. A complete Look & Read story or two presented with full sign language interpretation would be a wonderful resource for schools to use, and one that the BBC could get a lot of kudos for providing, and would be a very distinct service for CBBC to provide that BBC2 could not, if they advertised it. So it's such a shame that they throw it away on signing stuff that's of no use to anyone, and don't even bother to mention in the schedules which programmes will be signed.
(I mention this advertising business particularly because the regulation which forces broadcasters to provide sign languages also instructs them to "provide adequate information about programmes with access services ... through websites, listings magazines etc".)

I reckon the reason that they're signing these particular episodes this week is that the budget and resources for doing signing are extremely limited, so they have to reuse programmes that they've already had signed if possible.
