It's simple. Does Peep Peep have a mother? If he does, then why does she not appear in "The Boy from Space?" In fact, males dominate "The boy from space" series entirely which makes me even more curious as to what on Eath ever became of Peep Peep's mum. Perhaps The Tall thin man murdered her before having a ruck and beating Peep Peep and his old man on the space ship? Or perhaps Peep Peep's dad just decided to leave her back home on the planet Vulcan? But why would he have done that....?
Most importantly of all, who reckons Peep Peep's mum was probably fit? Maybe someone can draw a picture of what she might have looked like <Samuel>. I am gagging to know, I reckon she was finnne and was probably back home on the planet Vulcan making more little Peep Peep's with the tall thin man's brother.
I am waiting for Ben and "If I was gay I would bugger Derek Griffiths" to offer their thoughts on the Peep Peep's mum debate! It's a serious issue that needs addressing! But thanks for your input too Thin Man!
Assuming you want a serious answer from me: they wouldn't have been able to afford another actress for such a minor role, would they. It was the same thing with Cloud Burst, except in that one they did have to mention that mum was off somewhere off-screen just to show good family values. In fact, come to think of it, can anybody think of anything by Richard Carpenter with a strong mother figure in it?
Anyway, we don't know that these space-men are entirely humanoid do we, beyond their basic exoskeleton, they're certinaly able to generate sound patterns that are well beyond the range of the human voice, and they can only barely countenance the atmosphere of north London, so there must be some odd things about their bodies.
So maybe there are in fact no 'females' in their weird alien biology, and it only requires two space-men to produce a child. We know that the space-ship's journey had lasted a long time, probably many years, and that the one space-man is definitely Peep-Peep's "father", so maybe the other parent's role was fulfilled by the one remaining space traveller on that trip...
And this may in fact mean that the meteorites weren't the cause of conflict in this story at all, maybe it was a protracted, intergalactic parenting dispute. Or maybe those rocky objects weren't meteorites as Bunting blindly assumed, but strange alien hatching-pods for all Peep-Peep's brothers (not sisters - no females, see!) which would explain why all 3 aliens were so protective about the things...
The kid who played Peep Peep would have made a pretty good Milky bar kid.
As for the mum thing, I reckon everything Ben says could be true but I am also believing that Richy Carpenter didn't like mother figures within his work. How about this for an Infant school essay title in relation to this theme.
"Analyse the representation of the "mother figure" within the televisual work of Richard Carpenter and discuss whether there is enough evidence to justify the argument that Carpenter was a mysognoist."

Sammy: Reeaally sorry, as you know, been having problems with emails which are now sorted. Have seen new designs, superb as always BUT the CBBC2 squiggle logo needs to go. I am up in the air on whether the multi-pic of boy from space doing his hands movements should stay or go, is anyone else able to have a look before I get some shirts made up?
ITS THE SAME IN CLOUD BURST YOU SEE JENNY AND TIM`S FATHER BUT YOU NEVER SEE JENNY AND TIM`S MOTHER AND JUST LIKE THE BOY FROM SPACE IT WAS A RICHARD CARPENTER STORY..

On peep peeps planet men have (male) babies with other men.
I think the Thin Man was peep peeps mum and was on the space blob making him hormonal and selfish thus leading to stealing cars and clothing, and wanting all the meteorites for himself?
Its true though a lot of L+R is homo erotic Wordy is Camper than a row of tents as is griffiths (Meeow!) and there is a lack of female leads.
Badger girl is a right bloke for example Lord Edward Dark is Sooo wanting to come out of the closet! Suprised he didnt jump in Bed with the friendly ghost!!!
Also Mr Benger was played by Christopher Biggins, possibly the campest panto star ever.. Martin from fair ground was like an early Andi peters!
Check my name for example I think my obsessions had a profound effect on me with its gay ways.
Hmmm actually come to think of it maybe thats why Wordy was Moody in TBFS.. He fancied Cosmo!
