I am pleased to see more Classic Look and Read programmes being shown on the CBBC Channel as part of their Class TV during the Term Time weekday mornings.
I see that Dark Towers is being shown yet again I missed the first Repeat so I hope to see again w/c 7th March. It will be my first time since the original transmission on BBC-1 in 1981.
Also I hope they show the very first of Look and Read's produced by the brilliant Sue Weeks.
in 1974 Cloud Burst I remember that one first time very well, including the very first time we meet Wordy or Mr Wordwatcher. I loved the word songs that Derek Griffiths and Julie Stevens
did during the "Sue weeks era" They were the best Look and Read's ever!
Really glad to hear that Dark Towers will be repeated on 7th of March, guess I'll have to record it now I'm a teacher myself; for me too it will be the first time since Autumn 1981! I was absolutely obsessed with Dark Towers at the age of eight and used to make clue trails for my cousins round our big-ish family home. Dad restored vintage cars so there was even scope for a clue where old wheels go round. Looking back at Ben's excellent website has made me realize just how much Dark Towers influenced my development with a strong interest in historical enquiry, family trees, fascination with old buildings etc., even to a hankering after a derelict Dark Towersesque victorian mansion in the locality, but I've got an old cottage to restore in the meantime! Looking forward to the repeat, it re-awakened a golden age of my childhood for me.
