Hi, new here Ive been a look and read fan for a while now but never came onto the forums. Just wondering if anymore of the L.A.R acorn or bbc games are going to be released other than Geordie Racer (eg.Dragons eye 'adventure'?) admittedly it can be hard moving BBC software to PC, but Acorn to PC is easy-peasy, *instert webmaster name here*, if your not sure about this, ask me (!) Thanks for your time... E.W
That file will be taken down tomorrow night and not put back up. Software piracy is wrong, wrong, wrong even for no-longer-available, low-profile educational stuff like this - but what the hey. "Offered as a backup if you already own the original disks." Ahem, yeah.
Don't even think about downloading this if you don't already know how to handle an ADF file, because it's pretty complicated, far too complicated to explain on here. It took me about a week to sort it all out anyway!
So just to divert this thread away from tawdry criminality, does anybody know much about how these Acorn/BBC/Nimbus games work? I mean actually how they put them together and what the techy words mean? Because apparently there were great problems when writing the Dragon's Eye game with something called "sprites", which delayed its completion quite a bit, but that's all I know. Could that be to do with the quite nifty sort-of-3D Veeton graphics?
And has anybody ever had a go on the more recent CD-Rom games like Spywatch & Legend of the Lost Keys, because I've no idea what those ones were like?
Thanks! Yeah i can cope with an adf Yup i know a fair bit, more about acorn/bbc games than nimbus (never had one) but i *think* they run on BASIC. If you want to know more about how acorn games work then pleease visit our forum at http://www.acornarcade.com (very slow and almot inactive) Techy words? Sprites are the graphics in the game they would have had to get from the BBC, unlike graphics like the veetacore which could be easily drawn in BASIC (correct me if im wrong) I dont see why there would be great problems... As for the later games, have a look at http://ns.logotron.co.uk/cat/view/legend-lost-keys.html?PHPSESSID=1fb5eae93bf58ed7a7425027d62988ca for the LOTLK game, only £35. yay. It has some screenshots and is worth looking at. Hope that helped... EW
Great fun. Who currently owns the rights for this game? (other than the BBC) As I am a regular visitor to a great acorn game site which has good contacts with a company who buy the rights of old commercial games and can then re-release them as freeware. E.W
